Position your AKS 4G gateway at height

In standard configuration, the AKS 4G gateway is mounted directly on the probe at ground level. This compact configuration works very well in most situations — but some contexts call for greater flexibility.

The remote mounting kit allows the gateway to be elevated to 1.5 m height, using a solid steel mast (Ø 40 mm, delivered in two interlocking sections) and an extension cable of 2 m or 4 m connecting the probe to the gateway.

The result: an installation adaptable to every plot, with no compromise on measurement quality.

Three good reasons to go remote

☀️ Better solar charging

At height, the solar panel integrated into the gateway is less likely to be shaded by vegetation or surrounding relief. It captures more light, particularly at the start and end of the day — improving energy autonomy, especially during cloudy periods.

📶 Better 4G network coverage

A gateway mounted at elevation benefits from a better line of sight to operator antennas. On plots with limited network coverage, this gain can make the difference in ensuring hourly data transmission to Akua Hub.

🌱 Discreet installation and easier soil work

With a 2 to 4 m cable, probe and cable can be completely buried. The only visible element above ground is the mast — and the gateway at the top. This configuration is particularly appreciated for mechanical weeding, hoeing, or any other shallow soil work, without the equipment getting in the way.

Kit contents

  • 1 Ø 40 mm steel mast — delivered in 2 interlocking 1 m sections (final height: 1.5 m above ground, after 50 cm insertion)
  • 1 extension cable — 2 m or 4 m depending on chosen variant

How to install the mast

  1. Drive the first section into the ground to 50 cm depth
  2. Slide the second section onto the first — the mast reaches 1.5 m in height
  3. Route the extension cable between the probe (buried or semi-buried) and the cable exit at the mast
  4. Mount the AKS 4G gateway at the top of the mast

The assembly is stable, UV and weather-resistant, with no special tools required for installation.

Which cable length to choose?

Frequently asked questions

What is the remote mounting kit for?
In standard configuration, the AKS 4G gateway is mounted directly above the probe at ground level. The remote mounting kit allows the gateway to be positioned at 1.5 m height, using the included mast and extension cable. This offers three main advantages: better solar charging (panel better exposed), a potential improvement in 4G network coverage, and the ability to completely bury the probe and cable to avoid interfering with shallow soil work.
Which cable length should I choose: 2 m or 4 m?
The 2 m cable covers the vast majority of configurations. If you want to bury the probe deeper, work around an obstacle, or if your probe is installed in a particularly tilled soil area, the 4 m cable offers more flexibility. When in doubt, go for the 4 m.
How is the mast installed?
The mast is delivered as two interlocking 1 m steel tubes. Drive the first tube into the ground to approximately 50 cm depth, slide the second tube onto it, then mount the AKS 4G gateway at the top of the mast. The extension cable then connects the gateway to the probe buried in the ground.
Is the kit compatible with all AKS models?
Yes. The remote mounting kit is compatible with all AKS probe models: aks-30, aks-60, aks-90 and aks-120.
Can the probe be completely buried with this kit?
Yes. The extension cable allows the probe and cable to be completely buried, routing the cable underground to the mast. This makes shallow soil work (hoeing, mechanical weeding…) much easier, with no gateway or probe protruding from the ground as in the standard compact configuration.
Is this kit included in the complete AKS kit?
No. The remote mounting kit is an optional accessory, sold separately. The complete AKS kit (probe + 4G gateway) is available here: see the complete AKS kit.
