Extend your measurement network

You already have an AKS 4G gateway and want to multiply your measurement points? A gateway accepts up to 3 probes connected in series — each additional probe covers a new zone, a new plot, or a new soil type, without investing in a second gateway.

The AKS standalone probe is delivered with everything needed for daisy-chaining: a 2 m cable with T-connector, ready to plug into your existing installation.

What you measure

  • Volumetric soil moisture across 3, 5, 7 or 9 depth levels (depending on model)

Up to 3 probes on 1 gateway

Each probe is delivered with a 2 m cable fitted with a T-connector, enabling multiple probes to be daisy-chained onto a single AKS 4G gateway. The T-connector maintains continuity in the chain: the probe joins the circuit without interrupting the connection to the others.

You can mix different probe lengths on the same gateway — an aks-60 for your vegetable plot and an aks-90 for your arable crops, for example.

What you need to get started

The standalone probe requires an AKS 4G gateway to operate. If you don’t already have one:

First installation? Start with the complete AKS kit — probe + autonomous 4G gateway, from €135 excl. VAT. It’s the simplest way to get started.

If you want to position your gateway at height (better solar exposure, better network coverage), the remote mounting kit is available as an option.

Frequently asked questions

When should I buy a standalone probe?
The standalone probe is intended for farmers who already have an AKS 4G gateway and want to connect one or two additional probes to it. A gateway accepts up to 3 probes in series — if you started with the complete kit (1 gateway + 1 probe), you can add up to 2 standalone probes to the same gateway. For a first installation, we recommend the complete AKS kit.
How many probes can be connected to a single gateway?
An AKS 4G gateway accepts up to 3 probes connected in series, using the T-cable included with each probe. You can mix different probe models (e.g. an aks-30 and an aks-90) on the same gateway.
What is included with the probe?

How do I choose the right probe length for my crop?
The choice depends on the root depth of your crop: aks-30 (30 cm, 3 levels) for shallow-rooting crops; aks-60 (60 cm, 5 levels) for vegetable crops; aks-90 (90 cm, 7 levels) for arable crops; aks-120 (120 cm, 9 levels) for viticulture and arboriculture. Can probes of different lengths be connected to the same gateway?
Yes. The different AKS probe models (aks-30, aks-60, aks-90, aks-120) are all compatible with each other and with the same gateway. You can, for example, combine an aks-60 and an aks-90 on the same gateway to compare two soil zones or two crops.
Does the standalone probe work without a gateway?
No. The standalone probe requires an AKS 4G gateway to power the sensors, collect measurements and transmit them to the Akua Hub platform. If you do not yet have a gateway, we recommend starting with the complete AKS kit (probe + gateway).
What is the measurement accuracy?
AKS probes offer an accuracy of ±1.5% for volumetric moisture and ±0.5°C for temperature, across all measured depth levels.
Are the probes made in France?
Yes. The sensors are entirely designed and assembled in France by the Akuasense teams, after more than 18 months of R&D.
